The City of Tamarac launched the Residential Assistance Program to assist residents with mortgage, rent, and utility payments. This program aims to provide emergency assistance to families impacted by COVID-19.
The Residential Assistance Program will offer up to $5,000 in one-time aid to income-eligible individuals and families who are struggling to make ends meet due to the pandemic. The funds can be used for mortgage or rent payment arrears, utility bills, past due hoa fees, and other emergency housing expenses.
To be eligible for the program, residents must have experienced a reduction in income, job loss or furlough, or other financial hardship due to the pandemic. They must also be able to provide documentation of their current income, unemployment benefits, and housing expenses.
Vice Mayor Marlon Bolton stated, “We understand that many of our residents are struggling to make ends meet during these unprecedented times. We are committed to doing everything we can to assist those in need and help alleviate some of the financial burdens they may be facing.”
Applications for the Residential Assistance Program are being accepted through the City of Tamarac’s website and the application window opened on April 3rd. Residents are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as funding is limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
